I know this is an odd place to write this but I knew that it would be a place that it would be found and read. As a girl, most of my opinions and thoughts are pushed aside as unqualified or unimportant, but I know that most of you will listen to me, for the most part anyway. So anyway, onto what I want to actually say.
For, the purpose of this note, I will only go by what I believe in. I believe in Bobby and this team. I know that Bobby has been jumping from ride to ride and it just never really seemed like he would find one that really wanted him or cared about him. Then this year, he teamed up with JTG Daugherty Racing and I feel that the tide has begun to change. Now I know that after the run at Daytona, we expected this to be the greatest year ever, but now it seems as if things have fallen once more. However, we cannot expect so much of a team we haven’t been with for very long. Daytona was nice and we should cherish that run rather than use it as reasonable doubt. We’ve been caught up in a few wrecks this year that have not been of our own fault and yes I know we were upset after Talladega and having been left out to dry, but we should all know that teammates don’t necessarily mean anything there. You do what you have to do and we were close to the end and we were too far back for, I believe, Truex Jr. to come back and get us and still be a potential winner. That was his choice and I know that it sucked for us, but we cannot control other drivers. I know that some are upset with other drivers and other races for other wrecks that have caused us to not be as far up in the field as we should have been, but Bobby and the team did what the could to run well with what they were given to get as high up as they could. We only have one DNF this season, I mean we had one year that we made the record for number of DNFs in one season, so come on it’s not as bad as it seems. We’re not starting and parking and we’re not finishing 35th or worse. We are competitive this season. We will increase that the farther we get into this season. The pit crew has done a fabulous job this season as well. Their times have been phenomenal, so great job guys! We just need to have a little more patience and understanding. And even if, that next win never comes, you’re all already winners in my heart. Nothing can change that opinion in a bazillion years.
On another level, the reason I picked Bobby as my driver in the first place is because he is the type of person and father that I wish my father had been. There’s more to Bobby than just him racing and winning. He’s human. He has feelings. He likes to help others and a lot of the owners he had been with didn’t quite get that. You would’ve thought Petty would, but I don’t know they did. This year when he teamed up with JTG-D, I’ve learned that they care too. I mean look at the chat they put up and letting us get this far in with the team; being able to talk to Kulak and Smith; to the MWR fan fest where Tad, Jenn, and Bobby were on. I realize that many of the drivers have their own charities, but none of them do what they things that Bobby and JTG-D have done this season. I don’t really need to go into detail, because I know that you all known the many places and things they have done already. However, there is one person from JTG-D that I have had the honorable pleasure of being able to email and talk to. That person is Al DiRusso.
Now I know that a couple of you have written on JTG-D’s fan page trying to get them to give me tickets and what-not like they did for Landon(who helped with banner for this page, so thank you Landon). The thing is, I don’t need tickets from them in order to know how great of a team this is nor can I ask for any. It was enough for me to be able to get some advice from Al about NTI and from there into possibly graphic design. To get such a compliment from someone in the team means the world to me. Throughout my entire junior high and high school career I would write my papers in English class on NASCAR and it got to a point where the teachers didn’t really grade my papers anymore, just put a barely passing grade on them and sent me on my way. This chat and this team have let me be able to hold that passion for NASCAR once more. Being able to copy and paste this chat for everyone to read has really let me know that I was never in the wrong for writing those papers. There are real teams left in this sport and I thank you JTG-D for being one of those teams. The friends that I have made, from this chat they set up, has changed my life, well probably more like saved my life. I know that most of you have no idea what I’m talking about, but you have. Bobby, JTG-D, and you my new friends have helped me in more ways than I can count and I thank you from the very bottom of my heart. But anyway onto seriousness; I’m planning on going back to Illinois State fall of ’12, if I can get in and study graphic design. Now, this means that I will probably need to find a part-time job in order to save up for books, art supplies, bills, and other essentials; therefore I may, unfortunately, miss some of the chats. I would prefer not to, because one I don’t want to miss talking to everyone and two because I don’t like letting everyone down. Letting people down hurts me more than some of you know. However, I don’t know that I have much of a choice at this point. I hope that everyone will be able to forgive me, if not I understand. However If Todd shuts down the chat then I suppose I’d have nothing to worry about, but I’d prefer to worry about it, lol.
Alright, I know this was long and I apologize. But again, I would like to say thank you to Al for helping find a direction for my life; to Landon for helping with my website; to Mickey for helping with the chat a couple times; to Bobby for being my unofficial father figure, being a great driver, and being himself; to all of JTG-D racing for being a real team, for letting us into the real racing world, for choosing Bobby, and for taking the criticism from some impatient people; and to everyone for their support. Together, we’re all winners in our hearts because of the person we choose to be. Together, we can change the way the world sees us and in that change the world to a better place. All it takes is one great person to join with another great person and that person with another and so on and so on and then we have each other and together we are the ones to make this world the best it’s ever been. For it’s when you help others that you help yourself. Again, thank you.
